Today I installed Chrome OS under VMWare.
Let’s dive in to the OS and see what Google comes up with.
First download the image from gdgt and follow the install procedure provide by TchCrunch. The procedure is a little bit different when running VM-Ware Workstation, but you should be able to overcome this. Finally booth the VM and this is what you (hopefully) will see.
When logging on you need to use your Google account, and if all went well you should get the Google Search screen.

At the top right of the browser window (or schould I say OS window) there are 3 small accounts where you can do or see the following. All these things speak for themselves just behind the ‘Options’ you will find some extra information/settings.
And finally the most important icon of the interface (top left), the Chrome icon. Clicking on that brings you to the Add-ons page, and that’s where all the fuzz is about?
Clicking on the icon lets you open the app without logging in again and that’s about it. OK I have my Google app available but I just don’t see how this OS will replace my current one, even on my net book. You need to be online to use it and with the current data rates in Europe I don’t see myself doing this. So for now I would say fine attempt of Google to bring everything to the cloud. But for me, I will wait and see what will happen the next couple of months or even years.
